The app won’t open
You click the DorsanDesk icon, but macOS won’t let it run or the app doesn’t respond.
If the DorsanDesk Mac version won’t run after downloading, shows a macOS security message, or after launching you can’t view or control the screen, follow the steps below in order. This guide covers common app launch errors, security permissions and the access macOS requires.
If you got the file from a messaging app, an unofficial website or an old version, first download the new version from the official link and replace it.
If you see one of the messages or situations below, the steps on this page usually solve the problem.
You click the DorsanDesk icon, but macOS won’t let it run or the app doesn’t respond.
You see messages such as “Apple cannot check it for malicious software” or “Open Anyway”.
The app runs, but the other side can’t see the screen properly or mouse and keyboard control isn’t available.
Open the downloaded file and put the DorsanDesk app into the Applications folder. Running the app from Downloads sometimes leaves security restrictions in place.
In the Applications folder, right-click or Control + Click the DorsanDesk app, choose Open, and in the next message choose Open again.
If macOS still blocks the app, open Apple Menu > System Settings > Privacy & Security and, in the Security section, choose Open Anyway for DorsanDesk.
If you see messages such as “DorsanDesk is damaged and can’t be opened” or a similar error, put the app in Applications, then open Terminal and run the command below.
sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine /Applications/DorsanDesk.app
Use this command only for a version you downloaded from the official DorsanDesk link. Do not run it on unknown files.
For DorsanDesk to show the screen and handle mouse and keyboard control correctly, check the following permissions in macOS.
To view and send the Mac’s screen image, enable this permission for DorsanDesk.
This permission is needed to control the mouse, click, select windows and work with the Mac remotely.
If keyboard control or input doesn’t fully work, enable this permission for DorsanDesk as well.
Download the Mac version again from the official link and remove the previous version.
Run the app from the Applications folder, not from inside the downloaded file or Downloads.
After enabling the Screen Recording and Accessibility permissions, quit the app completely and launch it again.
On Apple Silicon Macs, use the arm64-compatible version.
No. First try Control + Click and Open Anyway. The Terminal command is only recommended if the Damaged message or the macOS quarantine restriction still remains.
On macOS, remote desktop apps need separate security permissions. Enable Screen & System Audio Recording, Accessibility and, if needed, Input Monitoring for DorsanDesk, then launch the app again.
First run the app once so macOS records the security message. Then go to System Settings, Privacy & Security. If the option still doesn’t appear, use the Terminal method on this page.
Usually not. Once you have approved the app and enabled the permissions, DorsanDesk should open in later launches without repeating the steps, unless you replace it with a new version or the macOS security settings change.
To avoid security errors and incompatibilities, always download the latest DorsanDesk Mac version from the official page.
